Geopolitical risks have dominated the news over recent weeks. In Europe, the first round of the French electoral race has taken place. For the first time in six decades, neither of France's main left-wing or right-wing parties have a candidate remaining in the election. The country's beaten mainstream parties have now lined up behind Emmanuel Macron to try to stave off a victory for far-right Marine Le Pen in the final round of the presidential election. Initial opinion polls have centrist candidate Macron beating Le Pen in the second round by 61% to 39%.
